#3 PLACE: PROTOTYPE THE FUTURE
INTERIOR & PRODUCT DESIGN - 2021 - MILANO, ITALY
Siemens, the European leader in innovation, technology and design has created "Prototype the Future" in response to the pandemic. Interior Design Master's students from NABA University (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) developed prototypes for the interiors of the future aiming to reflect changes in habits after the pandemic and innovate the current domestic living scenario.
Prototype the Future" is a forward-thinking project presented by Siemens Elettrodomestici, the leading European brand in high-end kitchen appliances. Siemens has consistently developed technologies to enhance people's lives. To address current needs and design the spaces of the future. This initiative includes the participation of Donato Medici, NABA Managing Director, Sabrina Zago, Head of Marketing at Siemens Home Appliances, Luca De Fino, Chief Growth Officer at Ogilvy Italia, Tobia Passigato, Director at Indiana Production, and architect Francesco Librizzi. The finalists of this projects are: Artificial Panorama, Hyper-Trays and Carousel.
Carousel - reinterpreting an existing environment and taking it into a new dimension made the 3rd place.
The Designers Isabella Klabacher, Viviana De Palma and Wiktoria Karolina Krukowska respond to the fact that with the modern era, some old and typical houses of the tourist villages in southern Italy have turned into tourist attractions and following the experience of prolonged lockdown, many people have found a strong desire to live in exceptional environments. These ancient and traditional spaces therefore lend themselves very well to new needs and become the right place for the contemporary lifestyle.​
Starting from the typical structure of the Apulian trulli, we arrive at the idea of ​​a home that is born and develops around a large piece of furniture in the shape of a carousel.
The multi-level and multifunctional carousel represents a revolutionary approach to home design by seamlessly merging the kitchen, dining room, and work table into a single, cohesive unit. This innovative piece of furniture not only optimizes space but also transforms it into a versatile hub capable of accommodating a variety of activities. From cooking and dining to hosting meetings or enjoying moments of intimacy, every aspect of daily life is integrated into this dynamic space.​
This design concept goes beyond mere functionality; it symbolizes a contemporary lifestyle where boundaries between public and private, work and leisure, are blurred. The carousel serves as a metaphor for a balanced life, where the demands of modern living are harmoniously met without sacrificing comfort or efficiency.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the carousel ensures efficiency in food preparation and consumption, enhancing the culinary experience while facilitating seamless transitions between different activities. Whether it's a family meal, a professional gathering, or a quiet moment alone, this multifunctional furniture adapts to the needs and desires of its inhabitants, fostering a dynamic and adaptable living environment.
